Holy Cow Batman! Geely make a car we would like to buy!

The Geely of yesteryear appears to be no more, the days of making low end, cheaper cars seems to have finally drawn to an end. The unwritten Geely philosphy of ‘pile it high, sell ‘em cheap’ also seems to have come to an end.

Above is the latest incarnation of the Freedom Cruiser or zi you jian in Chinese. The likes of Roewe, JAC, Brilliance etc should be on the look out for Geelys mid sized sedan, when it goes out onto the market later this year.

Details on the FC3 are thin on the ground, but CCT has discovered that:

  • 4.9m long
  • Will go into production in mid 2008
  • FC2 will be a hatchback, FC3 will be the larger saloon (shown)
  • FC1 is a much older design and was nick named the ‘Death Vessel‘ by the Russian motoring media. Hopefully Geely has paid full attention to safety as well as design this time.
  • Geely will use their 4G range of engines, which are CVVT and are upto Euro 5 emissions specifications

Geely are certainly going to have an interesting year, with all of the cars that they have shown off over the past week on various motoring websites, we cant help but think the only way is up now for Geely! Jia You!

I was speaking to a friend a week or so ago and he was telling me he’s had a Geely for 5 years and done something like 80,000km and had no problems.

Is that first picture on the left a REAL photo of a FC3? If it is, it looks pretty good.
