MG7 - Cheaper than…… most other cars in its range?

The MG7 has fallen in price again! The MG7 1.8T is now practically free at 160,000rmb for the base model ($22,000USD or 11,570GBP!) The latest price cuts knock 10,000rmb off the list price, and to further potential customers interest in the motors, Nanjing MG dealers are throwing 4000rmb worth of extras into the car as well!

China Car Times was recently reading an article on a Chinese motoring website where readers were invited to leave comments on the MG7, and the latest price cuts. Comments were overall very favorable, but some comments were not as nice. There seems to be a demand for an automatic version, but Nanjing MG seem to be dragging their feet about launching it! The MG3 (also rumored to be delayed) has an auto box, so why doesnt the MG7?

MG3 rumoured to be delayed? I think it’s not so much a rumour as a fact. It was meant to be out around the middle of last month. Official words from the manufacturers is that it wasn’t coming out then! I suspect it may come out some time after the Beijing Auto Show.

March 14th was supposed to be the date, apparently pushed back due to quality issues!

SAIC/ NAC need to spell out their vision for MG and UK car production. Fans of the brand in the UK are feeling largely ignored by them. Not a good way to build long term sales.

The company (MG) is not good at communicating. It doesn’t even have a web site in English. Most Chinese manufacturers at least manage that, even if they don’t have any one who can speak English.
