JAC has been designing and producing some beautiful cars of late, first it was the Bin Yue sedan that made China Car Times go a little weak at the knees, then it was the larger C-Concept on CCT last week, and now its this little hatch/sedan number that just makes us want to buy JAC stock!
The above car is codenamed A138. The design is obviously a small compact sedan, roughly the same size as the Nissan Versa/Tiida sedan, the hatchback (below) is also roughly the same size as the Nissan Versa/Tiida hatch.
More information on these cars will be forthcoming!
Its obvious from the various concepts and cars produced to date that JAC are really throwing themselves into the car making game, and using world wide talent to achieve their goals. We would say that Chery is the most famous Chinese car maker, but Chery should be watching their behinds, as JAC are catching up fast!
Thanks for the tip, Kevin!

Handsome, relatively unique styling. Looks good.
Brian, its one of my favorite Chinese cars to date. Either the real Chris Bangle, or someone pretending to be him once commented on JAC via China Car Times, ‘he’ claimed that JAC were the future. Im beginning to think ‘he’ was right!
Interestingly, JAC is also based in Anhui Province like Chery. Now I wonder if the government will lead a merge of JAC and Chery one day, like what happened to NAC and SAIC, they would be a real force!
I have heard rumours of the possibility and gov’s willingness last year, but nothing has been heard since.
Putting things in perspective, JAC has to do more than just design handsome cars in its Turin design center. It has to do like BYD did with the F-3, and get at least one of these into volume production. It’s really clueless when it comes to bringing passenger sedans to market and successfully keeping them there. It’s got to get down and dirty like the other little tigers BYD and Lifan.
Jonny Boy, those Chery-NAC merger talks ended early last year. But when Chery gets serious about commercial vehicle production, like you suggest, a merger (takeover) may happen.

JAC are my new favorite car maker in China - they arent selling terribly well yet - at least perhaps its too early to tell if the Binyue is selling well, but the purchase of the previous gen Sante Fe shell was a good move, pairing it to a Mitsubishi engine and selling it at 120k RMB was even smarter.
Their minibus/van range is more popular than ever, and is obviously their bread and butter vehicle. My friend has a 2.3 V8 Hyundai version!
very interesting indeed..!
hope the production version carries on from these concepts…
