NAC MG discovers MG ZT

NAC MG are readying the sports version of MG7 executive car for the Beijing car show. The MG7 is billed as a sports sedan when compared to its Roewe 750 counterpart, but now there will be an ‘even sportier’ version!

The luxury sports version is expected to cost around 210,000rmb as a 1.8 turbo assisted model once launched.

What China Car Times wants to know is, any hope of MG producing the MG7 Tourer (aka MGZT-T) anytime this year? If you do, you will have a penny (or 200,000rmb) in your pocket from China Car Times – especially the 260bhp version

Yeah, the ZT-T would be good, as would the RWD V8 model.

Yes, my dad has a ZT-T, it’s a beautifull estate and with a RWD V8 model the range would be even more exciting again. I hope they will consider it, because I think there’s a market for such powerfull cars, and for Europe there’s a huga market for estates, in China I think sedans are more popular.

Finally, a proper MG, istead of a Roewe with an MG badge.
They say it will be a bit to expensive to make the V8 after european co2 regulations, but we can still hope.

By the way, wy not make the MG7 rearwheeldrive, with both the 1,8 l, the 2,5 v6 aswell as the V8 version?

  4. avatar Ash says:

The original V8 Rover 75 had its engined borrowed from a Mustang (?), and was RWD. Im sure MG have the plans for a RWD MG7, but possibly no engine supplier.

    • avatar Michael says:

actually it was the mg zt 260 was the only zt or 75 to have the mustang engine the rover one and mg one was orginally a bmw powertrain engine then rover bought powertrain of bmw.

mg saic and mg nac have missed a tric and should have re-started full production at longbridge back in 2005 and kept the exsiting model range going untill the could replace them mg and rover have a loyal customer range but over the last 5 years have had to buy other cars from other car makers.

MG Rover had a replacement for each of the cars they were selling and if NAC or SAIC or both had invested and picked up the mg rover design by now all these car would been out for at least 2 years.

I do like the new MG 6 and MG Zero but they need now to launch there cars into the UK at the same time they launch them in China after all MG is British Car Maker who is owned by SAIC/NAC.
