2.0l Turbo + 6 speed gearbox - Chery A6CC first decent Chinese coupe?

China Car Times has posted info on the Chery A6CC time and time again, but what we havent posted is the specification. The car was shown off at the Shanghai car show in 2007, but specifications on what might go into the car were not known at the time due to the A6CC being in the concept stage. China Car Times has since learned that the A6CC is expected to have a self developed Chery Engine, ATECO, which will be a 2.0l Turbo model paired to a 6 speed manual gearbox - previously we heard this was a 4 speed autobox, but the option of a 6 speed manual has appeared.

Are you saying that the Brilliance coupe is not good? That has a 6 speed manual and 1.8T. Plus from what I’ve seen the interior looks half decent as well.

The front end of the Brilliance is ‘interesting’! The rear, side, interior, etc are awesome. Bit pricey though. Two months ago, I had a deposit ready to give them. Wife talked me into waiting a few months to see if it would come down in price.

I think I forgot all about it :(

You are right, the Brilliance is a beautiful car and of course a decent coupe, but is not as sporty and aggresive as this one.
If we talk about futuristic sports car I would say this coupe could open the door to a new age of chinese design in the world market.

Although I would make a few improvements like a lower profile and better and wider tires.

But I must say this was one of my favorites in the show.

Ash your wife might want to confirm first that the A6CC doesn’t come equipped with that dropdead beautiful blonde Russian model we all saw at the show.
Is this the design product of Xuan Qiwu at IAT in Beijing?
What Brilliance…..

To be honest I was expecting a little bit more from the models ;) but it was ok.
By the way, bad idea visit the autoshow with your wife :(

Hope within the next year this comes out and maybe even the MG coupe, and maybe if really really lucky one of the Guangzhou Coupes ( http://www.thetycho.com/beijing2008/guangzhou_cc/guangzhou_ccc_1.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j3/daewoo-chevrolet/gac4door1.jpg
) - then we’ll have some real local “Sports” Cars here… and maybe even a price war :-) - alas probably just a pipe dream…

Get onto posting it then ;-) I really like the GAC CC (Coupe Cabrio) one, their (regular) coupe - Im not too sure you can really call it a coupe since it has 4 standard doors….

I think Ash was talking about decent coupe designed and built by a chinese company.
That scorpio car sure is attractive but it has a HUGE resemblance to the concept from Pininfarina, the “Ferrari Rossa”

http://www.diseno-art.com/encyclopedia/concept_cars/pininfarina_rossa.html

http://www.pininfarina.com/index/storiaModelli/modelli.html?scheda.php?id=18&cmp=anno&ord=desc&sl=0&ids=f22b13a655b20d86a59951e4bc4c25bb

so I think it doesn’t count as a chinese design at all.

By the way Ash do you think we are about to see the first chinese super car?
