The Chinese motoring press are saying that the MPV pictures that appeared on worldcarfans.com last week labeled as a Roewe MPV, are in fact more than likely to be an MG MPV.
The above photos show an unfinished ‘box on wheels‘ that has Roewe wheels. China Car Times remains skeptical about the MPV, but the Chinese press are reporting guessing it will be put into production in 2009 in China, with 1.8T and the 2.5 V6 engine also a diesel engine for Europe.

Looks a little like a S Max crossed with a Grandis
Those wheels are so unmistakeable Rover 75!
LMAO
Ive seen higher res photos, and I think you can make out ‘michigan’ on the license plates. Is Michigan a likely place for SAIC to test, or is it just another car brand using Roewe wheels?
If this is an SAIC product then I can’t see it wearing the MG badge. It’s totally the wrong type of product for MG. However an Austin might make sense…..
I thought this was a MPV that GM was developing and I was wrong. The word is GM is helping develop the vehicle. Here’s a more in depth link: http://news.windingroad.com/countriesmarkets/china/umm-about-that-general-motors-mpv-mule/
Good find Molotov.
It makes sense that GM would be helping SAIC out, and the Michigan plates fit into the prospective now.
The rear lamps look like a rip-off of the S-Max, hard to tell from the camo tape though.
Mazda has the same model in looks.
