From the grainy pictures below, you may be able to make out a new front end on the FAW CA6480P6E SUV. We’re not sure why FAW likes to use a serial number instead of a name, after all, who can remember CA6480P6E?
The new SUV is surely inspired by the Chevrolet Colorado front end style of recent years, which Dandong ShuGuang have also borrowed for their most excellent looking pick up truck.
The two SUV’s are available in long wheel base, and short wheel base form with both diesel and gasoline engines available. The gasoline engine is a Euro 2/3 spec 2.0l engine (73.5kw/5000rpm) from Xinhua, and the diesel engine is 2.7l model (68kw at an unknown RPM)

This is so insulting/infuriating. I’m not a big fan of pickups or SUV’s but is it that difficult to design a front for an outdated/pirated Isuzu chassis? Here’s a pic of the Chevy Trailblazer, http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/35/2006_Chevy_TrailBlazer_EXT.jpg/781px-2006_Chevy_TrailBlazer_EXT.jpg
I’d love to say some profanities but I know it’s a family friendly site.
How embarassing!
I’ve always wondered . . . just how many companies in China have built vehicles off of the dearly departed Isuzu Rodeo platform? Has anyone ever counted? Landwind attempted to break into the Euro market with a clone, but couldn’t pass the Euroncap.
At last count about 20 companies have used this Isuzu- based pickup or SUV body. It’s easy to attach their own homemade noses to. For the smaller companies, some which have already gone out of business, it is understandable. But for the big boys like FAW, BAIC, and Brilliance-Jinbei to resort to this, opens them to ridicule.
Agreed. AND, it shows contempt for the consumer.
This has always been a point of bewilderment and laughter, this whole secret serial number vs. model name.
“Wow…is that the latest SUX285thASS4251???” or
“That 99a3gh5j6k7k2 sure is a piece of sh1t!”
Looks like both of these are the short wheelbase model.
I wonder if Dandong Shuguang will be meeting FAW in court over this?
unbeliveable!
Inspiration is different than copying something.
What’s the idea doing this? are chinese automakers trying to fool someone with these cars?

Guys,
I think somebody pulling our chain…I’m starting to believe that our comrads in Beijing went down to the local Chevy (NOT CHERY) dealer, bought it and rebadged it a FAW (FAKE AMERICAN WHEELS). Raugh is on U! I’ve done the same with my BJ with a Bronco underneath…Chinese Americans finger me at every turn. A Ford badge and POOF! a sow is turned into a real fire breathing v8 4×4. I’m waiting for a knock off of a YUGO. Why not the Serbs need to get their pants dog knotted up too!
Yup, Raugh is on U.S.
