Ash….of course its cheaper than a Z3/Z4 and a SLK - and…surprise…its also cheaper than a Ferrarie 430 Spider, Porsche etc..! You cant compare them against each other, there are totally different levels - or do we compare the QQ with the Mercedes A-class !?

In the UK, the MGTF was the safest “Sports Car” with the Highest NCAP rating for a car of its type, so hopefully Nanjing, have kept that.

Also it outsold the MX-5 during its Peak in the UK.

So it may do the same in China, but It does need replacing.

All MG’s and Rover’s were needing replaced badly. They looked nice. And as everyone says, they looked British and they have a “Heritage” look to them. Thats because the cars were atleast 10-15 years old and had been given 2-3 facelifts!

I own a Rover Streetwise, and a Rover 25 before that, 2 very good cars, and I wouldnt want anything else. So hopefully there are some really nice cars to come from MG/Roewe in the UK, as I would gladly buy one if the Quality is there, as it is in my Streetwise

Why? the Z3 has been off the market for 5 years? probobly less problems with taking that than this…

I believe under MG-Rover management, the MG made it to much of Europe, and even China/Taiwan!

I agree, the MGTF is overpriced in the western sense, however, it is a rather unique car for the Chinese market. Its much cheaper than the Z3/Z4’s from BMW, and most certainly cheaper than the SLK’s from Benz. It makes the BYD F8 look truly awful, so perhaps, the MGTF is actually worth its rather high price tag.

Furthermore, I cant see how the MGTF will be 250k to 300k unless they offer some amazingly different options packages to Chinese consumers!

I absolutely love the TF, unfortunately it never reached American shores. Very quirky British styling. Gorgeous! Let’s hope SAIC has the resources to distribute this world wide as opposed to restricting it to you lucky Brits (and now the Chinese). But then again, 25萬 is pretty expensive. You could almost get a 128i cabriolet for that price.

Yeah - Ive seen the MGTF from the dealership out quite a bit, they do show it off quite a bit.

Last time I saw it, it had a nice dent in the door.

I got lucky recently, they just HAPPENED to have one in the showroom in Nanning at the MG dealership. It’s quite a striking car close up, but it IS somewhat on the small side. It kind of reminds me me of the Mazda MX-5 Miata (the original)….not in shape, but in overall dimension and size. But……….250-300k RMB for this??? I’d rather get a Brilliance coupe for 120k RMB, do a custom “chop top” job and create my OWN convertible……and STILL save 100,000 RMB!! Or, even wait for the Chery Faira cabriolet - not as sporty but every bit as cute…and save 150,000 RMB!! I say if you MUST have one, wait a year and let the prices drop - by this time next year I’ll bet the TF will be selling for 200-220k RMB.

If they chop 10 wan off the price it will sell a lot better. For that price people would rather look buying a Mini.
