SAIC possibly loses marbles, makes Roewe 550 sports edition as ugly as possible

China Car Times once said the Roewe 550 was the most beautiful Chinese car to date, however, since these photos came to light of a ’sports’ 550, we retract our statement. The 550 Sports is not an improvement on exterior aesthetics at all!

The black one on the left is the sports version, and the right one is the original version

The 1.8T Roewe 750 sports">Roewe 750 sports is much nicer, if you ask us.

Sooo….basically it just looks like they:
    - stuck a rear wing spoiler on
    - added a shade/hood for the rear window
    - changed the rear airdam/lower spoiler?

Front airdam/spoiler and sideskirts are the same?

Im assuming the sports version, will come with a slightly tighter suspension, and maybe more “sportier” interior (silver and black…hopefully no faux carbon fiber…)? Wouldn’t think any engine or transmission tweaking though?

Looks like those Camry sports editions. It’ll probably fly in North America with all those dads who wish they could still have a “sports” car :)

Additions look like cheap after-market add-ons.

I thought SAIC were leaving the sporty side to MG? so MG can release the new MG5, which is rumored in the UK to be the 550??

Nice “battle edition” bodykit… this would’ve been hot 10 years ago

It’s not that bad. I’ve seen cars that look much worse get praise on this site.

Looks alright to me, although I’m not a fan of the 550. It could do with with a bigger set of wheels.
I agree they should leave the sports side to MG though seems a bit daft them both making sprots and non sport models!

SAIC does not understand how to market in the West….they need to hire Westerners and actually listen like the Japanese did for several years instead of acting like they already know….it may work in China…but it will not work in the West.

I doubt this will even sell in China.

The standard 550 is a beautiful machine, a true Focus fighter.

This sports version is a turd.
