Previously, we perhaps mistakenly reported that the Iranian Khodra may well break up its joint venture with Chinese company Jinan Youngman, it appears that the joint venture is far from breaking up, and 2009 will in fact see Khodro simultaneously launch a new model in both China, and Iran.
The Khodro self designed and built X12 is set to hit the market in mid 2009. The factory that is going to build the X12 will be finished by the end of 2008. The X12, according to Chinese reports, is similar in style to the Peugeot 206S and will cost less than 100,000rmb when launched.
Khodro plan to source 75% of the cars parts from Chinese suppliers, which will keep costs down.
The question remains, will Chinese consumers buy Iranian? Many consumers are very familiar with the automotive cultures of Western Europe, USA, and East Asia, but will they connect with Iranian motors?

oh sure, I love competition.
At the Beijing Show 2006 Irankhodro wanted to show the Peugeot 206 sedan, but had some problems with Peugeot about selling the car in exportmarkets. The car arrived at the Show, but stayed outside, as Peugeot didn’t allowe to show it at the booth.
Greetings! Erik.
wow very interesting thanks erik.
Rumor has it that Teheran is looking for a low cost partner. The cars built are slated to be export to Iraq for short service. No crash test(s) are needed since the goal is “to have a car that will meet and exceed any suicide bomber’s expectations”. As to date no suicide customer has complained to Khroda…
Will the suicide bomb compartment be standard or an option?
Hux,
All Khroda’s will have the booom-b compartment standard. The only option will be a chrome nuclear centerfuge tube proudly mounnted on the dash as a flower holder (VW stole it from me, Damn Nazis). An option will be: All detonations will be via wireless just the jets we drove over New York during a not so recent bomb sight seeing tour…
