The current Ford Focus looks a little out of line within the rest of the ‘kinetically designed’ Ford range, the recently launched S-Max and redesigned Mondeo have made Fords best selling Focus look like a little out of line with the rest of the range. Chang’an Ford have given the Focus a little bit of a face lift for 2008/9. We’re not sure exactly when the latest Focus will go on sale, but Chinese motoring media are saying it will go on show at the next big automotive show, possibly even the upcoming Chongqing show.

The Focus is Chang’an Fords top selling motor vehicle, and hopefully with the update, it can continue on its upward path in China!

If you wanna see the Focus without camouflage, just check the German website (www.ford.de, or probably any other European Ford site). I’d guess the Chinese version will look very much like that.

    Cheers from Chongqing, Michael

On first glance, it looks like a Honda lineup!

Be thankful you don’t have this http://www.motorauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/Ford/Focus/focus_coupe.jpg as your Focus.

At least the Chinese version doesn’t look like the US version…I was at my son’s soccer game in Memphis and there was a “Pimp my ride Focus” direct from the factory with 17″ wheels, lotz of chrome (that be bling for my bros) and a piece glued on a turd chrome air vent on the sides. Nobody has to wonder which american car company will go out of business this year. FORD! Crappy metallic colors and massive chrome grills (bling!) They might sell in the hood but surburbia ain’t buying..Ford send us the Chinese version…without the frikin chrome.

Yeah, I drive a Focus, luckily it’s a 2003 ZX-5, so I have a handsome hatchback. I’m starting to wonder if it’s economically feasible to just export the Mondeo and Focus out of China and into the United States. I wonder if maybe they could be sent without engines since the NA consumer demands larger engines and that way the unions don’t cry about lost jobs.

Isn’t Ford going to build the Focus in Australia? They might look at exporting them from there rather than China due to trust issues… even though a percentage of the car is probably already made in China.

It seems the Chinese love chrome details on their cars - maybe we’ll be so “lucky” as to have this setup as the “luxury” version soon ;-)

    honda???
can you name ONE honda that looks like any focus…??

    I agree
    american focus sucks!!
    .
but even though, focuses sales have raised impressively this past year. All due to raising gas prices, Americans are finally starting to buy more subcompact cars… even if it has to be THIS focus… (which is still a pretty decent vehicle overall)

I think building the Focus in Australia is for keeping up with demand in RHD countries. This idea is similar to GM building the H3 in South Africa for RHD markets as well as for European consumption.

Hmm, and the gold trim that used to be all the rage on the Japanese cars. My friend had a 90s Lexus ES300 back in the day that came equipped with gold badging.. ugh! I hope that trend doesn’t come back :D

    Aron.
All BAD trends come into vogue again. I mean look at Buik port holes, there ain’t a bro around who ain’t got em’
Gold ‘bling” trim is right around the corner…I’m waiting ffor vinyl roofs with T tops to come back. Imagine a Mini knock off with such! AND spinner 22″ wheels. Gotz tha love it!

  • aron said:

Haha, in my book, t-tops were a good trend. (does that mean it’s not coming back?) Well, I’d prefer a proper targa top, but who’s counting. I’ll be the first to buy a targa Roewe 550!
