Everyone loved the Geely GT concept when it came out in Beijing earlier this year, but what about the original Geely GT? It appears to have been assigned to the history books, but not for China Car Times!
The 1.3l mini car had a number of design features merged into one little package, it has sports coloring (either red, or yellow), with a matching interior, and sport alloys. It also appears to have SUV style bumper protectors. On the engine side of things, the Jaguar Wind GT has a 1.3l engine which is supposedly economical (although only achieving Euro 2 emissions standard), and sporty.
Sadly the Jaguar Wind GT is now out of production, but when it was in production it was 50,000rmb on the road
Another one for the Chinese automotive history books, sadly. We still love the Geely pick up truck that was based on the same car.

Oh yeah, I remember this car……….it was a spiced up version of the old Mei re. It also had back up radar (object collision sensors), you can see the sensors in the back bumper if you look close - and it also had a remote opening lever for the back hatch (something that is STILL not common even with today’s current models). Pretty cool little car (although the interior was a bit garish when you sat in it), and the 1.3 engine was no slouch!! The new Geely CE compact concept is a PRIME candidate for the “hot hatch” treatment……let’s hope they’re smart enough to do it!
Jon,
I really like this little car, there doesnt seem to be too many of them on the road though. Ill see if I can find a 2nd hand one.
I do like the legendary pick up truck version, and would buy one what ever the cost is.
If I recall, they didn’t start to market this car (the original GT) until 2004-2005 or so. At first it was a upgrade of the base model Mei re, and then it was sold side by side with the 2nd generation Mei re (maybe it was just a easy way to sell the remaining stocks of FIRST generation models). I liked this car too, it had a unique allure to it. As far as the pickup truck…….I have NEVER seen one on the road. Did they ever put the pickup into production? I always thought not……have you ever seen one Ash?
