I understand your point. I just think your point is way too narrow minded and biased to matter on this. The comments you made about the corvette other than size don't even belong to it and you would have a hard time finding anyone that has tested or driven the car agreeing with much of anything you said.

I am no Nascar fans at all and I agree with you that REAL sports cars are not found in those tracks. It sounds you misunderstand my point.

@ DC

It sounds you are pretty pro-China though you are a Canadian and like the American culture. Yes, I admit that my position is pro-Euro but my comments are never racist, they all based on facts. Sometimes I maybe biased but your terms of personal & racial are not applicable to me.

I agree, theres no getting through to this guy. He's just another (North) American hating pro-Euro snob who doesn't seem to know what facts are, so he would say if its American, its stupid. I think one day, China would have a sports car faster than anything made in Japan/ Europe and America at a fraction of the price, and I would rave at it as much as the Corvette.

Unlike you, HK, most of us on this blog are able to commend and respect great cars, but we are also able to keep this a "car only" discussion and leave personal dislike and racial comments against another country out. Not everybody in North America is probably as half "drugged" as you.

What kind of track you are talking about? Indy 500?
I would regard F1 tracks are more realistic to test a sports car.

I'd rather agree with you that those city playboys in supercars are just for showoff and look good, nothing related to their performance.

Does it even matter how many Corvettes they sell if they bring them to China? If they are importing them and can even sell a few at a premium price, it is worth it. I agree that it isn't a great car for China but because of the roads and how people drive here. Unless you get to a track any buyer of it will never even know what the car can do. But then again we are in China. Does anyone even care how a car can drive. As long as you look good and important in your car.

Look out how many people are buy BMW X6 at 1-2million. Yeah people will buy it for sure. The Camaro is nothing even close. It would be more directly compared to a Ford Mustang that is a muscle car and nothing else. Power and straight line speed only. The way the roads and driving is in China, yeah it is a useless car but so are Lamborghini, Ferrari and good handling car really. Never know where a manhole cover will be missing.

As I said before, you all are drugged by the American film industry. Your Corvette will not be taken seriously as a sports car. Its way too big (but best liked by American & Canadian). That guy spent 1.5M rmb for a Camaro must a diehard fans of Chevrolet. If a Camaro is asking for that kind of money, how much will you sell for a Corvette? 2.0M rmb? I wonder who will buy it? Yes, motorist clubs people can afford them but how many? Be realistic !!!

Power? Yes. a V8 with outputs ranging from 430-640hp
Speed/ Handling? Yes. Check the Nurburgring lap times for the Z06 and the ZR1.
Build Quality? Mixed opinions. The car is wrapped in plastic, but then it has a powertrain would outlast ANYTHING made in Europe HANDS DOWN.
Fuel Economy? Good on the Hwy, but not so good in town.

I am a half Canadian and Chinese, and I believe that if a Corvette gets into market anywhere in China,it WILL sell like mad.

I am in Guangdong, China right now, and what I can say is, people will pay big money for a car that performs and looks good. In fact, the Bumblebee Camaro is listed at over 1.5M RMB (over 200k USD.) A couple of friends got me into a couple of motorist clubs there, and after I showed a couple of pictures and videos of the Corvette, they all want one.

Bring them over, GM! Put a Corvette in some spectated races against some Ferrari/ Lamborghinis, and this car will sell itself! (Just don't price it right "below" the competition like you did with the Cadillacs here)

Corvette, a sports car? No way. That is the image portraited by American movies to make third world people believe.

Power? yes but just by sheer big V8.
Speed? yes but in highway only.
Handling? not at all.
Refinement? rare.
Technology? some.
Styling? so so...

Rich young Chinese won't find any attachment to it.

I'm over here now and got on the computer to see what Chevrolet was doing with the Corvette here now.Trust me,you would see sales of it over here like you wouldn't believe. It could be out of a cave and it's still a Corvette. So much new money and most of them have been to the U.S.and know the image.
I've owned a lot of Corvettes over the last 45 years clear back to #160"53" and I know what happens on a car this good with it's price point.Even with added tax,the sales would go like "stink".Ya' want to make a believer out of yourself,go check the sales of Buicks built over here.

yep -- in europe the corvette is a different brand than chevy. Given the crap that çhevy is selling in china I give them five years before the japs wipe them off the face of the earth.

GM is amazing. Corvette is a halo car for Chevy, yet the sell them separately in Europe. Maybe it is a halo brand for GM, but GM isn't a brand - it is a company.

Corvette is not known yet here, however, believe they will market it as a brand. Chevrolet is more recognised in China as a brand in roof of GM, and thanks to good marketing, the image of Chevrolet is not as cheap as it is.

If Chevrolet is recognised as a cheap car manufacturer, maybe they're going to market Corvette as a brand more than a model from Chevrolet. Same thing happened in Spain, if i'm right, over there the Corvette is sold simply as a Corvette, not as a Chevrolet.

Anyway, cool news...
