Geely are going to use their new MPV and SUV platform on the Geely SUV, which may well be named the Geely NL. Engine power will be derived from the Geely 4 series of engines, the first engine to be used will be the 1.8l VVT 16v model which is already used in the Geely Yuan Jing sedan, the Geely NL will also be paired to an automatic gearbox. The 4 series engine line up will also be shortly expanded to include 2.0l and 2.2l diesel engines.

The Geely NL will have the option of true 4wd and will use Macpherson strut suspension linkages.

Are you guys late or something? This car was one of the many on display at the Beijing 2008 autoshow. I do like it, it is a looker, it really is no direct copy of another car. If it’s reasonably well built, and returns decent MPG as well as crashes well, it could be a great addition to the CUV market.

What is “true” 4WD? Is it part time, full time, viscous clutch-equipped, or otherwise….? How about the transmission? Borg Warner or Jatco perhaps? I don’t think that Geely will put the homegrown powertrain in this one.

You make it sound so easy, like making cars is like making instant noodles, just bring it out and make it.

They need times on various things you know including what you just said emission standard, safety…

I have a feeling he’s referring to CCT being late on reporting the Geely SUV?
    .
Actually, if I recall correctly, this WAS reported during the Beijing Autoshow.
    .
On an unrelated matter; in my opinion, this car looks way too smooth which makes it look boring.
    .
For example, on the front end and particularly on the doors, there’s no features such as rub strips to break up vast expanses of the metal panels. Same problem on almost all Lexus cars too, just look at the latest IS. In fact, all Asian cars seem to suffer from this design cue to a certain extent (G35, Honda Civic, Lexus LS)
    .
I love the way Mercs, BMW and Audi breaks up the space with a crease running down the middle, or rub strips.

well well well what do you have here a modified RAV 4!? Every one knows Geely doesn’t have the money to develop a new chassis so they just copied the new RAV4 ’s and to avoid any potential lawsuit, they just change the door a bit. How dis pointing.
