MINI Rick Shaw does rounds in Beijing

mini-rickshaw.jpgTo celebrate the MINI Clubmans jump into the PRC, Beijing MINI came up with an extremely novel idea on how to promote their new model and grab some headlines when pretty much most of the media is dedicated to the Oylmpics.

The MINI Rickshaw, named ‘The other Rickshaw’ has certainly grabbed headlines around China, and to a certain extent the international media. The body of the Clubman is from Germany (although we thought they were to be made in Austria?) and the conversion to rickshaw was carried out in Hong Kong, and then the rickMINI was taken to Beijing to ‘bring good luck’ to the Beijing Olympics.

In addition to the MINI Rickshaw, an old British Bus is going around Guangzhou peddling MINI Wares and letting the Chinese public know about the MINI Clubmans entry into the PRC.

The MINI Clubmans entry into the PRC is a little later than other countries, but the way they have entered is certainly a different one, a method that has gained lots of headlines when most of the media is focused towards the Olympics. An excellent idea, especially as MINI are promoting the Clubman as being a ‘lifestyle’ and not just a normal car.

Did anyone ask the pedaler if he wanted to haul around half of a car all day in addition to a couple fat Americans ?
How about a light plastic look alike body on the original rickshaw frame ?
