The thinking mans Bentley - Chery Eastar Soft Top

Chery have been working on a secret vehicle for the past few months, a vehicle that has only just come to light! The vehicle in question is none other than a Chery Eastar convertible!

It appears that the B Pillar of the Eastar has been removed, and the overall length of car increased, presumebly to fit the roof in and neaten up the exterior appearence. We cannot guess what time, or if, the Eastar will hit the market, it could be that the ragtop Eastar is a a skunk project, a car which Chery are just developing to see if it can be done for the sake of it.

Chery has unveiled various soft top coupes in the past, but it appears none have made it to production as of yet.

Can this four door model ever make it to market? I question whether it can, since the body integrity of a four door convertible is very suspect.
Maybe its time for Chery to build a coupe model so if it decides it wants to turn some convertibles, it can just cut the tops off.

Yeah a 4 door softtop is not the greatest of ideas! How about making a small QQ style softtop car? Didn’t I see a pic of one on CCT not so long ago?

The Chery soft top is a perfect example of the Chinese automotive industry exhibiting designs that are counter-intuitive, ugly and just plane stupid!

4 door ragtop, what a joke…

Should this vehicle actually make into production I can easily invision other vehicles now having to dodge bouncing babies, garbage and God knows what else being flung out of the convertible cars in addition to coping with existing poor driving skills.

I really wonder if executives from the automotive industry ever drive in colloquial China? I mean, if the automotive executives really drive in China, don’t they consider real world applications of their product?

How many times have you seen drivers tossing McDonalds trash, cigarette cartons, beer bottles out the window while driving! Haven’t the executives noticed babies sitting on the laps of the drivers while driving and front seat passengers allowing their precious one child policy baby run amuck in the car?

I think the automotive executives should be slapped for being felonious stupid and unaware. Perhaps they are aware and simply don’t care!

I can easily predict babies and garbage flying out of convertibles, and the uppity class allowing thier well groomed dogs to to jump out of a their new convertible.

OH MY GOD!
What a nightmare!

If I were an automotive executive in China. I would put high emphasis on education at family level, elementary class and local government to teach traffic awareness.

I would then fire all of the existing student driver instructors and make them work on a farm because they are safer to society working on a farm than teaching how to drive.

Things a student driver should not do during instruction;
1. Speak on the mobile phone.
2. Smoke
3. Put feet on dash board.
4. Drink alcohol.
5. Overload car with student passengers.
6. Instruct student how to drive on a busy highway.
7. Convoy with other student drivers on major highway.
The list goes on, but this commentary is on the Chery which is spelled incorrectly by the way…

Cherry = fruit in English.
Cheri = Love in French
Chery = Chinglish

I would make a regulation that requires all driving instructors to be certified by a board or institution that has true driving credentials and real world skills backed by world standard certifications.

How can an ostrich teach a chicken how to swim? But a swan can teach a goose or duck very easily…

Sure, the China market is a desireable market to enter, but safety and responsibility must be the primary considerations.

Dozit Matter.

All good points you mentioned but most of them would cost money so highly unlikely to see any local governments paying for stuff like that. A more effective form of policing dodgy drivers would eliminate many of those but that would mean finding an honest cop……..
