The Revolution Begins Now – PRC to get electric car charging stations
The Chinese State Electricity Grid is anticipating a massive move by the Chinese people from gasoline based cars to electric cars over the coming years. The State Grid has unveiled plans to step up its original plans to build electric car charging stations in large cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, as well as smaller cities such as Dalian, Ningbo, Qingdao etc.
In trial areas, the electric charging stations will be mainly used to juice up electric busses, and electric trams in certain areas.
By 2010, China hopes to be producing and selling electric around 1 million electric vehicles per year, forefront leaders in the electric car, and hybrid business in China are easily BYD, who have previously detailed plans to launch Dual Mode (DM) vehicles, essentially hybrids, as well as pure electric vehicles over the coming years.
During the Olympic games, Beijing made extensive use of domestically produced green vehicles, which included 55 electric busses equipped with lithium batteries, and 410 hybrid or electric cars.

This move should be lauded.
Yes, you are right Peter. But until Beijing sees fit to provide manufacturers incentives for building such vehicles, and consumers incentives to buy, there will be no vehicles to take advantage of the stations.
dragin.
according to a chinese news source. the draft policy to reduce or cancel 10-percent vehicle purchase tax on new-energy cars was submitted to the Chinese authority for approval, partly due to the satisfactory performance of new energy vehicles such as hybrid and electric during the Olympics.
Thank you Mememe for the update.
Now hopefully they can start building more nuke plants so that when all these electric cars start tapping into the power grid, they aren’t tapping out our lungs from the extra coal plants that will be needed.
I believe that before 2020, China plans 50 more nuclear power stations.
There is one being built in Yantai to power Yantai, and surrounding cities.
