Geely Panda – it looks fantastic.

15 October 2008 11 Comments

The Geely Panda was ridiculed when the first prototype was spotted, nobody quite knew, or wanted to know, what the styling was aiming to achieve. Now that a few pre production models have been test driven by the Chinese automotive press (and we’ll translate those reviews at a later date) the news appears to be good, the interiors look much better than Geely’s usual fair, and the logo on the front appears to be Geelys new logo.

This is Geelys late answer to the Chery QQ, although it may well be a breath of fresh air into the super cheap, super small segment of cars that Chery dominates with the aging QQ.  The design style, both interior and exterior, are certainly interesting, and show a brave new world for Geely!

will Fiat take back the Panda name. I see that this car has been heavily influenced by the Alfa MiTo and the Suzuki A-Star. But the styling department has pulled it off. It looks better than some of the other clones in the small car segment.

Hi Geely Panda Looks so style and small and cute as PANDA.
all futures are attractive except rear window open is some odd and difficult to passengers. if possible it should be improve as full slide down or half slide down as other car.

Geely should clone a Porsche 911 and sell it for $25,000

Geely made a hughe impact on COP15 in Copenhagen with a new electric car.

The car is made in corporation with the Danish company Lynx who has developed the electric components and a new state of the art lithium battery pack.

The Chinese car company Geely and the Danish electric car developer Lynx Cars and Danish positive batteries has their focus on lowering C02 emission with the new Geely Panda powered by Lynx.
The car is a 5 seater family car. Powered with a new electric motor system from Lynx and a new state of the art battery called Positive. The car has a topspeed of 130 km/hour and has a range of
200 kilometers per charge. In Asia the car will be branded Geely Panda powered by Lynx and in USA and Europe it will be branded Geely Nanoq powered by Lynx. Nanoq means polar bear in Greenland lanquage. One of the focus points with lowering C02 emission is to protect the icecap of Greenland. So it makes sense to use the story of the Polar bear in the countries outside Asia to make a direct link with the benefit of driving electric.
The car made a hughe impact when driving around in the streets of Copenhagen during the COP15. And it gave China a great reputation for actively doing something against C02 emission.
Amongst the people who either felt, saw or drove the car was Mr. Wen Jiabao, His Royal Highness Prince Frederik of Denmark, Actors Jet Lee, Mr. Richard Branson, US governor Mr. Arnold Swarzenegger and many more. All where very excited about the little charming car.

The car will be ready for sale in Europe as the first territory in spring 2010.
