New Fiesta to be late to the table

According to a Chinese auto blogger ‘Wu Guang’, the Chang’an Ford Fiesta is going to be launched in 09, and not 08 as previously expected. The reasons cited appear to be the recent down turn in automotive sales across the world, although Chang’an Ford-Mazda sales appear to be slightly higher than last year, from Jan to Sept 08, Chang’an Ford Mazda sold 123016 cars, where as over the same period in 08 they sold 120561 cars. Apparently Ford are getting cold feet about the small car market, and may wish to focus on their compact and mid range sedan models, the Focus and Mondeo instead, leaving the Mazda2 to take over the small car segment for now.

The Ford Fiesta has been spotted out testing in China several times

  1. This is the same case with India as well. The futuristic Fiesta looks so different compared to the previous car. Have you seen it in black?
