Geely say: “Small cars can be VIP too” – We’re tempted to agree

The Geely Panda is allegedly going onto the market after the Guangzhou Auto show next month, we always wondered why Geely did show off 23 prototypes at the previous auto show, when it was the Panda that looked closest to becoming a reality, but never mind that, it seems the Panda is ready to roll.

The Panda is built to all of the highest standards for small cars according to Geely, who seem to have gone some way in showing that small cars dont mean dangerous anymore, especially when they come jam packed with airbags like the Panda does.  The Chinese media are alreadly calling the Panda ‘The least like a Geely product’, (perhaps because it looks pretty good compared to previous Geely products) and they’ve also called the car to watch in 2008. Engine power for the Panda is derived from a 1.3l DOHC engine which can reach 165kph per hour, and can produce 110nm of power at 3800rpm, and is interestingly, Euro 5 compliant.

i think it looks good – it also has an identity of its own, a sort of wide-eyed innocence, quite likeable really

With that massive front grill they may have made it air cooled to save some $$$

Isn’t that a self-developed Vtec engine that Geely is using?
A far cry from the old days of pirating Toyota engines.

I think it looks good, if all the standards are true then Geely has done itself good. How many airbags does it have ash ?

Overall it looks pretty nice. The back is really good, side is similar to a Ben Ben, which is no bad thing, and the front is ok. I wonder how it will actually look in the flesh? If it’s around the same size as the F0 (F1) I’m going to take a gander at it.
