The Roewe 550 1.8 Turbo model has seen some good sales since its launch, not as good as the Honda Civic, but averaging 2000 units per month is quite good for an unknown Chinese brand with a product that costs over 120,000rmb. The Roewe 5501.8 DVVT, or basically, the Roewe 550 1.8 without turbo assistance, is the next model of the Roewe 550 to hit the market.
From what we hear, the DVVT engine ‘has increased in ability‘ by 10%, but at the same time, it uses 5% more gas than its turbo assisted brother. We have no idea what increased in ability’ means, but we’re sure its good. The Roewe 550 1.8 naturally aspirated model will hit the market soon, priced at between 120,000 and 140,000rmb. If the 1.8 is half as fun as the 1.8T model, then the 550 may find itself a home in the China Car Times garage very quickly.

Interesting news-any pictures? And, more importantly, any news on the MG variants?
Take a look at this http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/231042/new-mg-hatchback.html
Ive had these pictures, and others, in my possession for quite some time now, I should have put them up much earlier. Massive auto news update coming soon!
Pictures of the new MG or Roewe? I hope we see them soon.

Ash, are you sure that the 1.8 uses 5% more fuel than the tubo version? Sounds pretty unlikely.
Does the DVVT version use Rover’s Variable Valve Control?
