Chery Cowin spy shots
The current Chery Cowin model is the first Chery model to go on the market, based off a SEAT platform, and an old engine line that Chery bought from Ford UK, although the Cowin was evidently a mix match of second hand goods, it was a great seller for Chery. Chery wish to update the Cowin with the Cowin2, which appears to be now named the Storm.
The prototype Cowin2 was shown at the previous Shanghai Auto Show, and appeared to be a lot rounder, cuter, car than the current one. The current Cowin is based on the SEAT Toledo, and being a 90′s car constructed in modern day China, it does look rather dated.
The Cowin 2 is expected to be joined by a hatchback version, which is shown below:
Cowin Hatchback:
Compared to the original Cowin, the updated versions are a great improvement, but CCT wonders if Chery can pull off so many car launches in such market conditions, and also, why do Chery appear to have cars that would be competing against each other, such as the Chery A3 V’s the new Cowins, and the Fairas V’s the QQ range. Have Chery been learning from the VW-China style of launching several cars against each other?

The saloon is hideous. Looks like it was designed by a 5 year old. The hatchback doesn’t look so bad though.
Dont hold back Mark, tell us what you really think!
.
Personally, I dont find it terribly exciting, but I think its an excellent upgrade to the last one!
The overhang is so short that it looks like a smaller class of vehicle.
As one industry writer has commented Ash, with engineers running the whole show at Chery, instead of marketing and other experts, its no wonder there’s redundancy in the new product lineup.
