3.0 V6 – a new SUV from Chery
Despite record gas prices at the pump earlier this year, Chinese consumers did not abandon their SUV’s in droves as their American friends did, in fact it was quite the opposite.
Chery dont see any reason to not launch a 3.0l V6 SUV in the current climate, and appear to be working on a new SUV. This particular SUV was unveiled as a concept at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year, it is codenamed P11, but the show name was Han Hu 悍虎, which can mean ‘Brave Tiger‘.
The Han Hu appears to have come a long way in a short time, especially after it was just a bare shell, and a very poor looking road test mule a few months ago.
Chery’s first SUV, the Tiggo3, was a major success story for Chery. Sure, it may have been ‘inspired’ a certain amount by the first generation Toyota RAV4, but it did come at a hard to beat price for many of Chery’s competitors, which is probably why it sold so well, and continues to do so. It seems that the current Tiggo3 is in need of a face lift if it is to continue with its sales run though, the rest of the competition is slowly catching up with Chery, and it wont be long before a rival also comes out with a compact SUV at a good price.
