Porsche Panamera – spotted out wafting around Shanghai

The upcoming Porsche Panamera was recently seen out wafting around Beijing Shanghai, possibly showing that Porsche have put China amongst their most important markets. The Panerama is expected to be put into production in 2009 in Lepzig, Germany and then limited to just 20,000 cars per year.

Porsche have seen their market explode in China, especially with the Cayenne SUV, which has found itself practically controlling the luxury SUV segment. The Panamera will go up against the Maserati Quattroporte, which has also found itself a niche market for in the super tourer markets, making them a common site in eastern large Chinese cities.

Those pictures are in Shanghai, not Beijing. Looks like somewhere in Pudong. Not great with architecture but those taxis are definitely Shanghai cabs.

The architecture is easy: the pics are right in front of Jinmao Tower…hmm, what are the odds of that?

Doesnt matter where the pics were taken, all that matters is that it looks fantastic. I wonder how much it will be in China? I’m sure it will be a better seller than any other grand tourer, as the Porsche brand is better known than the others in China.

I know this is going to be a hit for Porsche, and also that technically, it will be an über sedan… no doubt it’ll be among the best sedans nowadays…
      .
but I really have to disagree with you about it looking fantastic…!
      .
in my opinion, the panamera looks hideous..!

That is one disappointing looking car, and looks even more so in the flesh, many in the industry were praying for something far better than this overhung ‘thing’. As one critic I met recently in Germany put it, “the cayenne pancake”.
I will be staying with my 2008 Quattro, which in my humble opinion is the best 4 door sports tourer bar none on this planet-and NO im not biased!!

Doubt it Ash, depends on the the Beemer boys and the current and ongoing monetary hiccup.Nice to dream tho.
The Rapide is in the same boat-launch 09, now 10, and still in the wind as Aston is faltering yet again.
