SAIC-GM-Wuling making 55,000rmb sedan, that looks great!

Rumor has it that the above car is set to be priced at 55,000rmb or lower, and will be made by GM-SAIC-Wuling! The mini car certainly looks to have a little bit of Roewe 550 design features around the front end, especially the lights, but the rest of the design appears to be totally fresh metal. SAIC-GM-Wuling is a three way joint venture based in Liuzhou, Guangxi, this JV was essentially producing small kei style vans, MPV’s and light trucks, but also produced the Chevrolet Spark as well. This little sedan is going to sell well at the prices mentioned, (no more than 55k RMB) and the engine specifications are supposed to be set at around 1.2l.
The above vehicle is still without a name, but its expected to go against the Brilliance FRV, JAC A137, and the Chang’an V101.

Are you guys sure this is a mini car? It looks to be more like the size of an Audi A3 or BMW 1-series. It does look great, except for the strange-looking rear end.
More stats:
1.2l direct injection engine producing 63kw at 6000rpm, torque is 108Nm/4000rpm. 100km at 50kph will see the engine use 5l (so not great).
The cars body is around 4m, and the wheelbase 2.5m.
That is roughly the size of an A3………the new A3 is 4.2M long, and the Mercedes A-class is around 3.8M long. I like it……hope to see more of it.
If these vehicles ever come to the United States I would like to be a dealer for them.

Too expensive for a Chinese worker who makes less than 55000 RMB a year. Could you see yourself buying a car that will match your annual gross salary? I think not!
