Roewe 550 gets 5 stars in CNCAP crash test!

SAIC pulled out all of the stops for the Roewe 550, they employed their UK design team, and utilized their finest engineering talent to make a car that looks good, performs well, is extremely safe, and also cheap to buy.
The Roewe 550 has sold around 2500 units per month since its launch five months ago. The Roewe 550 is based off the Rover 75 platform that SAIC acquired from the bankrupt British car maker Rover in 2005. SAIC have built two cars off the platform, the Roewe 750, and then the Roewe 550, which used a shortened version of the platform. Other models are expected to be launched using the Roewe 550 as a base, including an upcoming MG hatchback.
The Roewe 550 was also test driven by CCT earlier this year.

I put no trust in any Chinese made report or crash test.
I know a guy from the US working as a crash safety expert for a Chinese OEM, he says they are 20 years behind, so lets wait until the tests are done in Europe or the US.

Ash why don’t you show people here what VW Bora and Mercedes c-class got in the Chinese C-ncap.
I know sooner or later people will start these accusations, only a fair comparison between the score of VW and Merc to SAIC and Chery would do justice.

what are you trying to say? Chery and Roewe are as good as a Benz or VW? You gotta be kidding me LOL. It just prooves there is something wrong (aehhh i mean faked) in this test.
Anyway people in china are very aware of this fakt, thats why they are sore reluctant to buy those cars and stay with foreign OEM’s.
There are many Chinese models that got low in this new C-Ncap.e.g Chery QQ and Lifan 520, Changan ben ben. Maybe you did not see the ranking table.

if passing this is about having big pocket then I don’t think that would be a problem for a company like Lifan when the car end up being ranked at the bottom of the C-nCap list.
