Chery A3 gets 5-star crash test rating

In what must be a great week for the Chinese car industry, the Roewe 550 received a 5-star crash test, as did the Chery A3. The Roewe 550 is based off the Rover 75 platform, where as the Chery A3 was designed and built in China (Although, Pinnafirina, and possibly Ricardo were helping Chery with designs and engineering)

The Chery A3 performed extremely well in the CNCAP testing, which tests vehicles in a similar process to the European NCAP testing, but CNCAP tests at the lower speed of 54KM/h 56KM/h.

The A3′s five star rating make it the only Chinese car priced at under 100,000rmb to gain a 5 star rating since testing began on Chinese cars.

The standard test in the US is still the NHTSA tests, the videos of those tests can be found anywhere.i.e. Youtube or any videos website, I never heard about any nonprofit Insurance tests in the US nor can I find any records about this, or maybe you can educate an ignorant mind like me then. A lot of people make mistakes thinking that the US crash test standard is of the same standard as the European one Euro-nCap. But anyway it was nice talking to you. Btw you don’t really need to tell other people about your family on the Internet like this.

Yep, the Chinese have come along way in a short time.
They are smart to get help with designing safe cars.
Hope to see a reliable, safe,
fuel efficient car soon in the us from China…

      Relax,
this is not going to happen in the next ten to twenty years. Chery as an example is waaaaay behind, their engineers are in average 30 years old. Where should the know how come from?
In western countries designing and building cars is a tradition and a artform!
I dont understand why so many people belive a country like China just starts building goood and save cars and thats it…… anyway It’s not going to happen!

With money, I don’t see why Chery cannot hire foreign engineers to consult them as well as training their workforce. Building cars is a long and arduous task it does not take 1 or 2 days to build a good car, given China’s record of motor vehicle manufacturing it is barely even a decade. Ok Western countries have been building cars more than a century ago. But I believe the learning curve can be shortened if a company knows what they are doing and with good management their goal can be realized as planned.

Sure it is helping they hire foreign engineers and they are doing just that. BUT you cant fill a whole plant with them. Look at Korea, a prime example. It took them 30 years to reach the current quality level using foreign knowledge. Their cars are good, but still lacking innovation compared to japanese, european or US vehicles.

The new Hyundai cars are just as advantage as any Us or Japan made card. Read consumer reports!

please don’t advertise Korean cars here, we already have that guy IHC running full time advert for Korean cars here whenever he comes so no need for more.

      • avatar woxihuanpijiu says:

but but but but………. Thats right, we all know Korea is the world leader for cars after Japan, the USA, Continental Europe, Australia et all….. Even China is ahead on some fronts ie, their govt still gives a shizzle…..

Having a lower standard for crash tests in China doesn’t do anybody any favours. People will think that not only are Chinese cars substandard, but so are Chinese crash test stars. But there was no need for it to be so: Chinese cars will soon enough match their European or Japanese counterparts and be able to compete on equal terms in crash (and other) tests. CNCAP should have adopted the standards wet by, say ENCAP, to try to establish a world standard.

    Five star safety test?
Funny how there is no residual dust or smoke powder
    from the airbag system…
As an Emt, I have seen many car wrecks. It takes upto 30
minutes for smoke dust to clear…

    I even enlarged the images.
No residue anywhere on the paint, autoglass or ground.
