bought the FRV 1 year 1/2 ago and no pb so far…just a fog lamp that died…
it’s not really gas hungry…the car is rather heavy, but you’ll end up using 7.0l/100km or even less if you drive on the highway…
fast enough for 99.9% of Chinese roads!

people in china drive like shit but they’re slow as hell, so you should survive any crash, as long as you drive downtown…

as to security in general…let’s take two safe cars and consider the following question:
what happens to a class A that collides into a Nissan Patrol? answer: squashed flat..and you with it!

what happens to the passengers of ANY car that collides into one of those damn cement truck? answer: you’ve just turned into dead meat!

so this is all bollocks…if you drive don’t crash…or else, don’t drive and take a taxi!

I think the reason Brilliance don’t is that they have problems with gearboxes. Is the 1.3 their own engine or of Mitsubishi stock? Anyway coupled to the kind of automatics available to Brilliance it would kill any remnants of performance.

Interesting……almost seems like overkill to have THREE engine sizes so close together – and available in one model (four, if you count the 1.8 in the upcoming sports model). I suppose it follows the BMW concept – multiple engine sizes in the 3 and 5 series for example. As far as me and a car……if Brilliance would offer a 1.3 automatic for the FRV, the waiting would be over – that would be my car. Even though I prefer a small car (1.3l or under in engine size….you know, global warming and such) I might make an exception in this case and get the 1.6 automatic FRV!! I REALLY love this car, I’ve test driven it – it is truly a impressive automobile. Come on Brilliance – there ARE customers out there who prefer smaller, more gas friendly engines WITH the comfort of a automatic…..put a automatic in the 1.3 FRV and it will sell!!

Jon – it seems that the news at lunchtime differs from now. Brilliance will offer a 1.5l, as well as 1.3l and 1.6l engines.

Hey Ash, you have me a bit confused…….the FRV crossover has a 1.5 engine? The regular FRV has a choice of 1.4 or 1.6 engines right now – is the 1.5 going to be a new engine just for the crossover? Regardless, the crossover IS a nice enhancement of a already beautiful car. The FRV is ABSOLUTELY one of the best bargains in China right now – beautiful, comfortable, well designed, gas friendly……and sales figures show that many chinese buyers agree with me!
