Very nice. What’s with the German number plates in the pictures?

Very much a Daewoo Lanos or Chevrolet Lacetti clone. But since these models appeal to my taste that’s exactly why I like it. And this one looks nice too. I expect safety- and interior quality to be improved since earlier models.

How is this a Daewoo Lanos clone? If anything it looks like the Peugeot 206. The GM-Daewoo Lanos looks like absolute garbage.

      • avatar Ash says:

I still cant see any 206/7 in there. Perhaps its just the fact that bubble cars have practically been done to death in just about every format.

What about the planned petrol-electric hybrid, and the 1.3L diesel-electric hybrid with double-clutch gearbox, that gasgoo says gets 94.2mpg? Will they ever happen?

    • avatar Ash says:

I can see the hybrid version happening, but it appears that the A5 may be the first hybrid Chery. As for double clutch, perhaps its on the drawing board, but I doubt its come much further than that.

Korean styled exterior with a faked interior image. Resources reports this model plans a 2,000 monthly build while over 50% of the buffer will be sold as taxi.

I’m not fancy at this hatchback at all.

I am going to try it this week end. I saw they have 1.6 and 1.8 version, which company manufacture the engine ?

One of my staff just bought one. Looking over it it looks impressive for 80K RMB. McPherson struts at the front, independent suspension at the rear. The twin pipes are cool. Internal wiring looks better than previous attempts and the overall appearance of the car is of a nice clean design with some nice features like door handles in the rear A Post etc. Inside it is clean, leather, GPS, buttons on the steering wheel for Audio and GPS…
The engine is Chery’s own design and Chery own the IP rights to it. (that was a requirement for the company). Chery have a modern engine plant with all the latest kit in it..
Like all previous chinese made cars the proof will be in the reliability. The majority of local cars are plagued by minor faults so time will tell if the development cycle have ironed out these…

I still think its the best looking Chinese compact hatch to date.

A sports one is a MUST.
