Fiat have feelings for Guangzhou Auto, no JV with Zotye

Fiats top man in China was quoted in a newspaper interview with Guangzhou Daily that Fiat maybe close to entering a JV partnership with Guangzhou Auto as mentioned before on CCT, which would see the relaunch of Fiat in China with domestically made Fiat vehicles, rather than expensive imported models.

However, any rumors of a Fiat-Zotye joint venture were played down, with Fiat saying that the Fiat-Zotye relationship is a deep trade relationship, and wont lead to any JV’s being signed. Fiat sold two platforms to Zotye, the Multipla MPV, and the Lancia Lybra, both of which are expected to launch very soon. The Fiat Palio may also see Zotye production, but under the ‘Zotye Party’ name.
