Haima working on 2.0T engines

Haima, Hainan Islands own developed brand, has improved its game in 2008 with the launch of a new Mazda 3 like sedan, and also a new bubble shaped hatchback. 2009 will see Haima focus on technology rather than bringing out new designs, Haima are reportedly working on a new 1.8 VVT engine, and also turbo engines. Haima are expected to launch a pure electric car at the Shanghai Auto Show later this year, our guesses are that it will be the Haima Family (Mazda 323 of yesteryear) sedan with an electric motor in place of an engine .

Haima are also building their third factory, which will take them out of the realms of small no car maker, and into the area of a mid range producer in the PRC. Haima is not the small maker that everyone suspects, they currently have three car factories, 2 engine factories, and 1 gearbox factory. The addition of a new factory will help them realize their goal of increasing production capacity from 150,000 cars per year to 300,000 cars. Haima currently has 360 dealers in the PRC, and plans to expand that to 500 dealers by 2010, the new dealers will mostly be in second, and third tier cities around China.
