Chery S16 – Officially to be known as Chery QQme
There’s no hiding it, the S16 is an ugly car, but its so ugly that the ugliness some how comes together to make this car super cool! Remember that many people claimed the original mini and Beatles to be ugly cars, but they sold millions of them over decades.
Does that mean that Chery can sell millions of S16′s? Well, there is that chance, but for the moment we will have to wait and see. Chery have finally given the S16 a proper name rather than a code name, it is now to be known as the Chery QQme. Previously it was rumoured that the S16 would be known as the Chery QQ5, but Chery have gone with the name QQme. Does this leave the door open for a future QQ5?
The QQme’s design is supposed to be a ‘cute overload’ aimed at young buyers, especially the female market. The dasboard is supposed to imitate a smiling face.

I have no clue why I like this car. It’s charming in an ugly sort of way. If It were to come to America, It could be an exceptional cheap runabout, for college age girls and baby boomers that want to stand out and be different.
Is this car amphibious? Looks like the bottom half is from a boat.
Really, did some Chery engineer take his kid’s drawing off the refrigerator, bring it to the office and submit it for approval?
I will give Chery credit for coming up with an original design and not a cheap knock-off or outright stolen design from another manufacture.
