Lifan 320 arrives in dealers
The Lifan 320, quite possibly the most infamous car of 2008, has finally arrived in the dealerships. The Lifan 320 was shown off at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2008 a rather shocked audience cried that the Lifan 320 was too much like a MINI, but now that clearer pictures have been released it appears that the 320 is similar, but not a copy.
Pricing of the 320 starts at less than 50,000rmb, so it is considerably cheaper than the MINI. The powerplant is a Lifan self designed 1.3l unit, that pumps out 65kw of power at 6000rpm. The engine uses 4.8l of fuel per 100km, which is reasonably economical.
The Lifan 320 is aimed at younger buyers who want an economical yet sporty small car. The 320 comes complete with an MP3 input jack, safety comes from the twin airbags (but no side airbags), the dashboard looks to be well designed, and quite well laid out.
The 320 is sure to win buyers, both domestically, and internationally.

I saw this car in January last year in the metal and I can definitely say it is not a Mini copy. Yes there is a dash of Mini about it but I could also add a few other cars to the list. I’m a bit surprised by the news though as Lifan told me it wasn’t going on sale until March.
it looks like a cheap and not very good copy of MINI – without any redeeming features of its own – not good way to get market respect as a manufacturer… why do they do this?
