Dongfeng have been eager to kick start their own brand of cars for the past few years, but have been hampered by a lack of technology and designs, arguably two highly crucial aspects when setting about creating your own car brand.

Dongfeng acquired the Citroen ZX platform from Citroen, and employed the Italian design firm, DSG, to design the car for them. Their first sedan, the above ‘FengShan‘ cars design looks a lot like FAW’s own developed car, the Besturn, and also has a hint of Chrysler Sebring about it. The rear end looks just like the Besturn B50

Dongfeng have reportedly invested 10 billion RMB into the creation of the Dongfeng Passenger Car Company, which will be Dongfengs own main brand. Dongfeng have reportedly created three platforms for the B,C,D segments. A hatchback Fengshen is also in the works according to Dongfeng.
