The 2009 target of 10,000 was reduced to about 3500. But just 47 units were sold.
Opening sales to the public was delayed until March of this year.

Looking back the past one and half year, BYD fails to deliver most of the promises. One thing is for sure, its share price did shoot up to record high HK$85.50 in October 2009, today it falls back to HK$44.85. I wonder if Mr. Wang is still the richest person in China and Mr. Buffett is still holding that 10% BYD shares. Can we file a lawsuit against BYD for disclosing mis-information to influence its share value ???

Does BYD auto or parent company have a listing on a stock exchange that is a accessible to Americans? Is there any transparency as to number of units sold, and general financials? What about independent testing and ratings re: BYD cars?

I left the following question on the story of last year’s stats for three weeks ago but no takers yet. It must be a state secret. Everything that I do not read about this car, ie test drives of independent motor journalists, “pics from happy new owners” etc points to a theater prop, exhibitionware or even worse, vaporware.

“If I remember correctly the BYD announced that they started manufacturing the car in November. At some other occasion they told that they were initially planning to sell about a hundred cars of this model per week. If this was true they would have had a few hundred cars ready for immediate delivery by December 15th.

In my nick of the world “immediate delivery” generally means the next day or the day after if one buys a car that already is at the dealer’s lot. According to the news in the press they sold a significant amount of these cars the very first day at a signing ceremony to local authorities in Shenzen. After reading the above mentioned statements the BYD has let out it is only reasonable for the public to be interested in the real world number of deliveries. And since the statistics for the whole year of 2008, including it’s last two weeks, is public record now, I and many others would like to read.

PS. Tesla in contrast to BYD seems to announce it’s real world deliveries in almost car-by-car basis and it would be good to know who is the 2008 world champion in “mostly electric” road car category;)”

F8 is so unfortunate, it’s ugly and if it’s runnin 200k I can’t imagine anyone digging in for that purchase. The back end looks disproportionate, overall body looks pretty ghetto.
