Greatwall Mini SUV

They’ve called it the Great Wall Mini, we’re not sure if BMW’s MINI will be angered by this move, but we at CCT love the soon to launch GWM Mini. The plastic clad car will be powered by a 1.3l engine, and unlike many crossovers will have the option of being AWD.

Great Wall Mini SUV

The GWM Mini SUV measures (LxWxH) 3645 x 1620 x 1624mm, and has a wheelbase of 2296mm. The added equipment to make the Perry into an AWD Mini SUV has added 75kg to the total weight of the car, but the car is still expected to be able to reach a top speed of 165kg. It’s not entirely clear how the mini SUV’s AWD system actually works, if on a lock system or on a ‘as needed’ system where the rear wheels engage if the front wheels loose their footing as with the Fiat Panda Cross, which GWM may, or may not have taken a lot of inspiration from.

Pricing on the mini SUV has yet to be announced, but its expected to be less than 90,000RMB, the launch date is expected to be middle of the year. This car will be going up against a small, but growing crowd of crossover vehicles such as the popular Suzuki SX4, MG3 SW (nee Rover Streetwise), Polo Cross, and the future Brilliance FRV Crossover.

Its fantastic. I’d be interested in having one, if I had the need for a small crossover, but as it happens I have a bigger crossover. :D
