Mega Read: The Geely Plan
Geely’s mysterious brand names have finally been named, previously, we were only aware of their logo designs.
Geelys plan seems to be basically to split the company into three segments, the world brand, the luxury brand, and the taxi brand. Geelys greatest local competitor, Chery, have also undergone a branding reshuffle, and it seems that this branding reshuffle is set to take Geely into 2010, and beyond. At the Shanghai Auto Show later this month, Geely plans to show over 20 cars, many of which are shown below. If you want to see what Geely will be producing in 2009, 2010, and 2011, you must click continue reading.

The global brand, on the left, is to be known as GLEAGLE, or perhaps Geely Eagle. It’s set to symbolize fashion, dreams, and passions. At the Shanghai show, the Eagle brand will have eight models, one of which will be an electric ocncept car.
EM GRAND is the middle logo, it will symbolize luxury, firm, and power. At the Shanghai Show, we will see 8 models from this brand. The first Grand car will be produced in June.
Shanghai EngLon (Presumebly meaning England-London) will symbolize classic, British style and aristocracy. There will be 3 models on show in Shanghai, one of which will be the Geely ‘Rolls Royce‘, otherwise known as the Geely EM.
Geely Panda Crossover:

Geely Panda Electric:

Geely GX718 SUV

EM Grand Models:
These two are the EC718 models, one of which is a hatchback and is codenamed EC718r

C-Segment models:
The C-Segment models are slightly bigger than their B-Class cousins, and are rumoured to be paired to double clutch gearboxes, but engine info is still unknown:

Geely GT:
As rumoured, the GT will come with scissor doors:

Geely Luxury SUV (EX825)

Geely Pickup Truck:
Geely’s first truck, hopefully it will come with an automatic gearbox and AWD.
TX4:
No certain dates on production, supposed to be in production now:

If you read so far, congratulations, you get the best prize:
Geely ‘Rolls Royce’ aka Geely GE
Oddly, it can only take one passenger. We at CCT thought the main idea of a limo was to share your wealth with your closest friends/advisors.

Interesting Lineup
but what happens to the current lineup ?
I hope the words ” Demolish ” ” Genocide ” and ” Torture ” are used to describe what they are going to do with the current lineup.
I like many of these .. but I will save my breath for the production version.
Are we gonna see all of these in the next Shanghai Auto Show ?
and Ash, what about Maudi ? ( Maple
) no more citroen zxs ugly cars ? They just re-launched it here ..
Most of these pictures look like something off Second Life or GTA. It will be interesting to see how they actually translate into real metal. I still see very strong influences from other designs mind you!
OK……….the Eagle electric concept looks VERY uncomfortable to sit in (those seats…….ugh) – but the Panda crossover actually looks pretty damn cool!! Here’s my question – WHAT HAPPENED to the CE????? Geely is REALLY stupid if they throw that design out – that is a GREAT looking car!! The GT is cool, the pickup truck reminds me of the Honda Ridgeline, and the Rolls Royce ripoff???? Uh…….no. Let’s see what they end up showing at Shanghai – but so far I’m not all that impressed yet.
I like the pick-up, but the important question is: how many watermelons will it carry?
I like most of these…except for the pickup, which looks great, but is basically a carbon copy of the Honda. I don’t mind ugly Chinese cars, but please stop with the knock offs – they are NOT helping.
I like that GV515. Is that a copy of anything? What happened to all the great concepts from last year? I thought some of them actually showed up in the flesh at the auto show. Actually, seems like one is the GC515.
I concur with the copying; what’s with that stupid RR copy with one seat? Absolutely ridiculous. And honestly, what’s with the horrid model names. GV### is hardly a memorable name.
I think “Gleagle” means “Global Eagle” rather than Geely Eagle.
One can only hope that Geely Eagle is the correct guess – can you imagine Geely attempting to conquer the western world with a car called the “Gleagle”? Urrmmm…
For that matter the Englon?
The Chinese still have a lot to learn about transliteration, etc.
lishufu is very interesting
You would think they can afford an English consultant or two. These names are just killing them.
C’mon SGP, Li Shufu deserves your capping of his name. He’s a man of extraordinary vision and tenacity. Even if he does some time cry about the “unfair” competition. He’s making automotive history as I write.
Yes, this is indeed an impressive lineup.
But “Gleagle” is as tacky sounding as Chery’s “Rely”
I like the Geely GT and Panda. Nice designs.
Gelly GT = Copy of Suzuki Kizashi concept
Geely TX4 = copy of London Taxi…
