CNCAP Crash Test: GW Peri does okay

It’s crash test season upon us again, and with all the other news topics being Shanghai Auto Show related, we thought we’d split it up with some crash test news!

The GW Pery, which got Great Wall into a little bit of legal hot water earlier this year did fairly well with 3 stars.

Frontal Impact: 11.54
40% off center impact: 13.47
Side Impact: 9.35
Total: 3 stars

This is 3-stars CNCAP, which is equivalent of last year’s Euro NCAP and thus, zero this year right?

  2. avatar Analyst says:

The zero star rating was pure BS:

That car didn’t deserve a zero star rating in the new Euro NCAP rating.

The zero star rating was BS. The BS4 didn’t deserve that score.

Right, but if this was tested using the same system as the BS4′s CNCAP test, it will be a fairly poor rating overseas still.
    .
I also all BS on the Brilliance crash test, as in they were purposely making it seem worse than they performed and also trying to mitigate any sense of progress at Brilliance, but at the end of the day, with only 3-star at CNCAP, this vehicle will also get 0-stars in Europe. I just hope the automakers realize this and don’t try to force their way through the system. They’ll just make a bad name for themselves!

ADAC serves special interests; if it Chinese cars were tested by the real EuroNCAP they should give them a fair score.

That’s the thing though; China faces a much tougher proposition than many other countries do when trying to crack consumer wallets open with their own brand and that Chinese companies should NOT expect others to play fair. They have to overcome bias over the fact that Chinese are perceived to be “commies”, outright anti-sinocism that’s blatant in many places, protectionist interests, and the list could go on!
    .
Knowing such a scenario will play out, the best way for them to succeed is to only try when they’ve made their cars so good that even when it’s faced against an unfair comparison, it still does pretty good. At least, that’s how I’d do it! Instead of trumpeting minor wins, just keep things under wraps until it’s all proven and tested.

sobhi badaway, parts for new cars are high the world over. At 3500km the gearbox should be covered by warranty….. If not its the dealers fault…
