Greatwall Electric Car – Oh La La La!

18 April 2009 7 Comments

So we’re not quite sure how the GW Electric cars English name is pronounced, the Chinese name is ‘Ou La‘, the English name is ‘KuLa‘. The design seems to be slightly different from the two seater electric car that Great Wall Motors displayed last year, different in the way that it now has 4 seats and also looks slightly less goofy:

According to Greatwall R&D staff, this electric 4 seater will use Li batteries, and a permasyn motor. The batteries are expected to be good for 2000 charges, and a lifespan of 5 years, furthermore on a single charge they should be good for a top speed of 130kph for 160km, power output will be around 50kW. The batteries should also recharge to 80% within 15 minutes.

Production dates, and pricing have yet to be announced, the Shanghai Auto Show should see the car on display.

The question remains, would you like to hit 130kph in the above car?

Very nice, especially coming from Great Wall. It looks better than the original concept!!! Is this a working prototype?

I really don’t think this looks that bad. Also looks like an original design.

Looks more crashworthy than the Smart for two.
But would love to know who makes the Li ion batteries?

The design is decent, does not look like a knock off. Get minimum of 4 stars in REAL Euro NCAP,price around 15 000 EUR with promised performance specs and bring it to EU for 2010. I´d buy.
