Brilliance BS4 1.8T Mild Hybrid
We’re not entirely sure how this particular hybrid works, perhaps an oversized alternator that cuts the engine out at the lights and fires it back up as the accelarator is pressed. We will know a lot more on Friday!
The 1.8T is good for 170bhp, and the gearbox is a new 6 speed sequential offering. We’re not sure if this is a home made Brilliance offering, or something they’ve bought in. More news as we get it!

what is the cost of this car, it really nice l love it
well, this would be just a regular engine with start-stop feature….
not an “hybrid” at all….
to be considered an hybrid, the vehicle has to have different power applications that, combined or separated, can move the vehicle.
this looks like the front of BMW

Nice car, looks Bmw ish…
Brilliance is a partner of BMW in China, so they kind of learn something from BMW.
I was at the show today. They’re also displaying a full hybrid version of the BS4 Wagon.
@mark
nice
any ideas of the engines setup???
My old driver got the BS4. He told me it had the same suspension and frame as the 3 series BMW. I think the saleman told him that. I don’t see how that could have possibly been the suspension from a BMW. It was aweful. Wouldn’t the car hold up in the crash tests if it has the BMW frame? The car looked nice overall. Lots of small things weren’t finished the best. The engine was a 1.8 mitsubishi. Completely gutless. Way too heavy a car for that engine.
The full hybrid was using the 1.8T engine if my memory serves me correctly and the interior looked pretty decent. My money is still on Brilliance as one of the manufacturers to watch.
Ocho9 there is only one engine to have in the BS4 and that is the 1.8T. I have driven the car with both 2.0 (no longer on sale I believe) and 1.8 Mitsubishi engines and both were terrible. I believe the 1.6 unit is also of Mitsubishi stock and if the 1.8 is anything to go by would be a complete slouch.
