I was talking about the quality of the Roewe. I haven’t looked at a BMW here in China. I have no real interest in any of them other than the 130. I am not into driving the 300 or 500. Too much weight there to be fun.

BMW has dropped their quality requirements in China significantly. If you sit inside a Chinese-made BMW you’ll notice a lot of parts are cheaper versions of their former selves, one of my friends pointed this out to me as he is involved in the supply chain. Look at the interior ceiling on a 7 series beemer and you may notice it’s no longer padded high quality material, but almost paint on cheap single layer material, for example.

BMW is having problems in the Chinese market.

The 750 was built to BMW specs? I didn’t realize that BMW allows such huge gaps in the dash board and cheap plastic interior. I was shocked when I sat inside one and saw the iterior quality.

Hey Does it matter what it resembles, its an MG and a new one too. The name has been saved and the Chinese are producing a nice range of modern Rover derived cars. I think the MG7 and Roewe 750′s are great cars and cant wait to see them along side the TF’s in the showrooms back in the UK. Anyway it aint bad to say that the whole Roewe NAC MG product range has appeared within 4 years from scratch and are built to the same standards as the Rover 75, which of course was built to BMW specs.
Come on support these cars and help get them back in the UK showrooms again, look how well Kia and Proton have done over here.

I agree with Ash. I didn’t like the look of the car when I first saw the pictures but when I saw it in the metal I think it looks a lot nicer.

Calm down boys.

Nothing offensive was said, relax, actually, when making a “looks like” comment it can be more clear if you’re specific — front end looks like a xx model xx year xx brand. Opinions are opinions, and people can dislike or like what they want. This board is pretty chill, no need to start up epeen combat over nothing.

That being said: If anyone has more information on this, ie release date potentials, specs, more photos perhaps in different colors, please paste in this thread…

Actually you still have it all wrong. You really don’t get it do you. I was not pointing out flaws. I am stating my opinion. You don’t get that other people don’t all agree and think alike. I don’t like the way the car looks. Did I point out a single flaw? NO. Come on. Please read what I said a few times and then read what you wrote. Maybe english is not your first language and something isn’t translating correct for you. I apoligize if that is the case but you are saying things that do not relate to what I said. I can say I don’t like something. And yes the front end of that car looks very much like a Hyundai that is out in the United States. I saw it two months ago when I was there. So don’t say it doesn’t I didn’t say they copied the Hyundai or Toyota if you readwhat I wrote. I said it looks like. Many cars look like another car. It is almost impossible to design a car now that doesn’t look similar to another companies. I was not attacking you or this car. Please try harder to be more correct in your statements if you would like to say anything against what I say. I do take offense when someone gets on here to just make comments about other peoples comments. You don’t even talk about the articles. You just get on to talk about what other people say.

You’re not just saying it doesn’t look great. You’re saying it looks like a Toyota and Hyundai. It may look boring, those vehicles may look boring, but how does it look like either of those brands other than the fact they’re all ‘boring’? If you look at how many trolls are here just to make up garbage, you’ll understand why it’s easy to misunderstand people as “trolls” if you were truly trying to be constructive.

I didn’t say a clone so don’t quote me. I am just saying it isn’t that great. I don’t know where you are from but where I am from the look of a toyota or hyundai is about as boring as they come and that is what this car has going for it. I think you just like to argue where ever you can. Anyone that takes offense to someone elses opinion isn’t very open minded. Disagreeing is one thing but to just come in to say no you are wrong and your “out of their arse” comment is just plain arrogant and offensive. Hope you don’t come in here with racial slurs anytime soon.

The car doesn’t look like anything special at all. The Roewe 550 looks like a boring toyota and this looks a lot like a Hyundai. Yeah it is better looking than a QQ. But what is the excitement of a car that looks so average.

I agree that they wont likely sell with those rims in a basic package, but the wheel-well will likely be the same size as here, what I mean is, it’s likely the biggest rims it will be able to handle are the size of the rims in these pictures.

What I’m really looking for are some release specs, 2.0T dual exhaust? If it really does look better than in the photos and has a 1.8T or 2.0T with dual exhaust and quality interior, it might still be worth checking out.

Rick, actually I doubt that even these wheels are going to make into production, specially for lower-end versions.

Just get one with plastic covers and replace them with aftermarket ones…

just be careful when choosing it.. =)

Some of these photos look a little nicer than the last set. Is there any information about the specs? I notice only single exhaust at the back, if it’s a turbo wouldn’t they dual-exhaust it?

I agree with Edgar on assessment of wheel size. The wheels are already thin tire to make the rims look bigger, so not really much potential to slap on bigger non-factory rims, and anything smaller would begin to look ridiculous – which seems common on cars here. Add another 2″ to the wheels and the sporty/cool factor would jump enormously.

I have to admit that I rather like , but after seeing much pictures of the car untill now, I still have the feeling the wheels are just too small, they should be bigger, like in the concept drawings. Than the car would be even better. But I’m afraid the production model won’t have tohose bigger wheels….

so does the car have a traditional boot (not opening up the rear window) rather than a tailgate? Like a Vauxhall Firenza?
