Brilliance EV to be produced in 2012

The Brilliance EV that Brilliance introduced last week at the Shanghai Auto Show last week is due to be put into production in 2011 according to reports.

It is widely believed that Brilliance will launch the EV in a mini MPV form based on the popular FRV’s platform. According to information supplied by Brilliance states that the prototype measures (LxWxH) 3719mmX1802X1426 with a wheelbase of 2500mm. The electric drivechain will propel the EV to a top speed of 130kph, and will have a max distance of 140km if driven at 40kph, although it’s far from being an electric supercar, the EV will be perfect for inner city travel.

    Ash, why didn’t you pull off the door handle of this car too?? =)

    @ jackson liu, because this car has no door handles, stupid.
    And why are you making jokes like that?? it’s common that show car qualities are not as good as production models, I once pushed a button on a Honda Accord at the Vancouver International Auto Show, and the button just came right off, so what’s the big deal??

    @Jack

    1) I wasn’t talking to you

    2) It was just A SIMPLE JOKE!!! you show up calling other people stupid is the biggest proof that your opinion is simply INVALID

    3) what are you bitchin’ about?? Can’t take a simple joke?

    4) Big deal about your Accord episode… only proves that the prototype was badly executed, or you weren’t able to operate it correctly (much more likely…)

    regardless of being a prototype, things are not supposed to fall apart.

    Any news on what the actual power train is like? Brilliance’s own, purely in-house, EV?

    OK, radio knobs granted, but door handles?….they should never fall off, not even off a concept. It’s a serious loss of face for the company. But let’s not get too serious about it….it’s all a part of “quality evolution” among Chinese carmakers. Faster guys, faster!

    As for the EV range specification, isn’t this a contradiction? If they are bragging about a certain top speed in one spec, shouldn’t the driving range be quoted at a higher road speed than 40kph? Or should we just assume that at 100kph the range drops as low as 40 km?
