Peugeot 308SW to enter China market

Dongfeng-Peugeot are possibly planning to launch the 308SW wagon into the Chinese market to take advantage of the gap in the cheap wagon segment. Currently, the wagon segment is taken up by Brilliance BS4 Wagon, and the Buick Excelle Wagon (It’s currently unclear if the Buick Excelle Wagon is still in production, or if Buick are still selling old stock) The 308SW was seen road testing in the Wuhan area, close to Dongfeng’s headquarters.

The launch of a 308SW, expected in the second half of ’09, would give Dongfeng Peugeot a welcome boost in a market where they do not seem to be performing exceptionally well against the competition.

So does that mean in classic China style they’ll continue to manufacture the 307 years after it was replaced but also introduce the replacement 308 but only in SW form?
