geely fe2 300x225 Geely EC718 (FE2) to launch soonThe Geely EC718/FE2 is to launch in the second half of this year under the Emgrand branding. The EC718 (a codename,to be replaced with FE2 at production time) will go into production soon according to media reports, and will be a major step forward for the Geely brand.

The EC718 will be produced in the port city of Ningbo, which is located south of Shanghai.

CCT has actually been in this particular car, and was surprised at the quality level. Previously Geely interior were sharper than a pack of razor blades, driving one was akin to sticking your hand into the said pack of razor blades, and then dipping your hands in vinegar. The EC718 has undergone a transformation, Geely are moving away the cheap and cheerful, and are finally moving towards good build quality.

Geely are aiming for car sales of 2 million units per year by 2015, and if they continue to make cars like the EC718, then Geely will be able to achieve their goal. Geely are also planning to push their overseas expansion, with Geely hoping that two thirds of their sales will be made up of overseas sales.

    The styling looks a little derivative, but it is far tidier than what Geely has been putting out. If the quality is right, as you say, then it is not a bad effort at all.

    Among quality issues, tactile quality is one of the last to be acknowledged, and overcome.
