Why Geely is the future
Although Geely has a reputation of being a big player in the low end bargain bin segment of the market, they are in fact gearing up to be a world player. It is often said that Chery are expected to become the Chinese number 1 automotive maker, but news of Geely’s university that they set up a few years ago makes us think otherwise.

BYD has a massive training center as well. I’m not sure about the others. If you ask me, BYD and Geely will be an unstoppable force that other carmakers will have a hard time dealing with.
ANY company that has it’s own university and a degree in car modeling is pretty damn cool in my eyes……..Geely, you rock!!
Do they really need a Uni? Because like you can just have any Uni then get the qualifications you need to work for Geely. If the Uni was any good, Geely would have better models (as in Car’s, not humans). But at the state the Chinese are going the commy government will have to manufacture Chinese people to a certain hight.
Geely Owner´s Plans is to be one of the 10 biggest producers untill 2020. believe he will reach this level sooner than planned.
The steps taken by Geely and the huge dynamic way they have shown their development capacity brings the clear picture that soon, maybe untill 2015 they will be the between the 08th and the 10th biggest in the world.
Their product quality is already one of the good points, investing in new safety technologies (imagine now owning Volvo!?) the other step is the way their products are being well designed bringing to the people mind the wish to acquire a Geely Car.
We have, anyway to see the positive impact the new products are creating to the consumers at the exhibitions, these products shows clearly how far Geely go already as well what consumers are feeling about their products.
The acquire of DSI combined with Volvo and their own development and technologies searching investments will bring them as one of the safer brand worldwide.
Congratulations to Geely! Their did not reach this level just because of “good look” but mostly due to be hard workers.

I didn’t realize Geeley has really accomplished anything yet? They should be able to in the future and will be a laughing stock if they don’t for all the money they have put into investments. But they are not there yet for sure. The one department they really need to put at their University is a creativity department. Free thinking and originality is what they need in designers. Hopefully they aren’t just teaching them how to base a design off an existing model.
What next degrees in road management (translation – road sweeping)? There are some really pointless degrees in this country. Plus it seems you need a degree to do the most mundane of jobs.

Someone asked ‘do they really need a uni?’ The short answer to that….YES. More accurately, CHINA needs more universities. Every year, MILLIONS of students take the college entrance exams, and the sad truth is that there isn’t enough university space for all the qualified students. Geely funded this university privately, and now close to 30,000 students attend Geely University – only a small portion of them studying auto design. Students there can earn degrees in arts, music, languages, sciences…..I truly commend Geely on it’s commitment to education in China.
I personally invested a lot of cash in the Geely stock. I believe that it will make me super rich if I wait a few years.

Geely’s library building (that looks like the US Senate building) was just a facade and not completed when I checked out Geely university a couple years ago. From the report, it still looks like it hasn’t been completed.
