China’s first hybrid sports car – move over Tesla!

29 June 2009 14 Comments

Below is the Tong Jian S11, and it is China’s first self designed hybrid sports car:

The S11 was first unveiled at the Shanghai Auto show earlier this year to an impressed crowd. The car was designed by Shanghai based TJ Innova, the S11 looks fantastic, with Audi and Ferrari design tones slipped into its sleak body, under the platform there is an AWD drivechain pushing power to each corner of the car. From what we hear the S11’s design is completed, and is now at the test stage and will soon be hurtling down the production line in Changchun city, although its not quite clear whose production line they will be using.

I have seen uglier cars. I am sure the performance can’t match the look seems early 90’s with color copying from the is it the audi R8?

The back brings to mind the Mitsubishi eclipse and Geeley Beauty Leopard combined. Not a pretty sight.

You have to love how well and clean the hood closes too. Nice even gap.

While it does borrow some styling cues from other makes, it’s not an outright copy. It actually looks pretty good, I’d say.

I can under stand styling cue’s Gerald, but when you say. Stick that there from that car, and also stick that there from that car… AH were done! I cannot believe the original masterpiece I have made. Also this rubbish is no competitor for tesla, because Tesla’s a pure EV, this is not even a plug in.

How are they going to produce these cars without a license? Or are they exporting 100% of the vehicles? Or are they going to produce at FAW?

Very, Very nice. This is the sort of car that Chinese designers can produce when given the back up of a proper R&D team, rather than a research and duplicate team.

Excellent.

Wow… anybody noticed that ALL parts of this atrocity are copied from another car? i could bet that even the electrical system is a direct copy of Tesla’s system… Even the logo looks like Ferrari! China should spend money designing new cars, not just trying to fit parts of other sucessful car together…

It’s not ugly, but the black swoosh on the side (from the Audi R8) looks just glued on or something. It doesn’t fit the bigger picture.
