What is happening at Geely?
Geely have made 2009 their year to turn their business around, to stop relying on cheap low end products, and turn their business into one that is respected for it’s quality products, in simple terms, they are trying to become the Chinese Honda.
Honda and Geely are running on similar historical lines, both set up shop as a motorbike maker before getting into the next big thing that was coming along, and that just happened to be cars. Geely’s CEO, Mr. Li Shu Fu is famous for his hyperbole (i.e. “A car is nothing more than a sofa and four wheels.“), but he is also an extremely shrewd businessman that will take Geely onto the global stage as the first international privately owned Chinese car manufacturer.
As already mentioned, Geely are taking 2009 to restructure their brands, focus on design and quality of their vehicles and give them new direction. The new direction can be easily seen from the Geely car park where a host of future vehicles were left on open display:
SUV
The Geely SUV (above) is the first SUV from Geely, and is expected to have both a gasoline engines, a 1.8 DVVT, and a 2.0l version , as well as a 2.4l diesel engine. Geely is reportedly busy in R&D work for a dual clutch for this particular model, although it is not expected to be launched straight away. The Geely SUV will measure (LxWxH) 4544 x 1832 x 1671mm, which will make it on par with the Nissan X-Trail. Interestingly, the Geely SUV will use a 5+2 seating arrangement, which means this SUV will be a 7 seater, but the last row of seats will be meant for emergency use only.
Geely EEBS:
The EEBS is Geely’s first plug-in electric sedan, although it is still at the concept stage, we hear that the technology that powers this car is close to production.
Geely Panda
The Panda’s shown below were involved in internal crash testing at the Geely facility. Geely has been striving to prove to Chinese consumers that even small Chinese cars can be safe. The Panda has an impressive six airbags that will inflate during a crash to protect the occupants of the mini car. The Panda was launched in China recently, and is expected to take on the world stage (via Australia) very soon. Although an official C-NCAP crash test score has yet to be released, the Panda is expected to rate very high.

what’s happening with Geely purchasing Volvo. Was it only false rumors?
The first thing Geely needs to do is rename the new brands they came up with. Gleagle? Are you fucking kidding me?
Same can be said for Chery. They need better marketing people, first and foremost.

Was the Volvo false rumors… Maybe they just floated the idea to see what the public perception would be.
Geely has come along way… They need to start using the better transmissions and invest more in safety…and not those taught in China.
They need to hire some outside help.

They did buy Volvo, per a special approach. Basically, Geely didn’t pay so much cash for Ford by himself, the stupid local government paid.

This is kind of money laundry where the masterminds will buy the new shares issued from Geely at very cheap price. Watch out for the stock price of Geely in the near future, they will get back more than what they have invested. The reason why Geely is allowed to takeover Volvo instead of SOE like FAW is because it is easier to manipulate Geely’s stock price and transfer the funds abroad.
