New Buick HRV spotted out testing

The current Buick HRV is based on the Daewoo Lacetti which has been passed around various GM brands and branded as a Chevrolet, a Daewoo, and as a Buick depending on the market.

The Buick HRV has long been rumored to be swapped with an Opel Astra, but this is the first time we’ve seen it in the flesh:

The Opel Astra Wagon is also expected to join the Buick line up sporting the HRV moniker, as the current Buick Excelle does not have a wagon like its predecessor. Engine power is expected to be a mixture of 1.6l and 1.8l. The new HRV is expected to take on the current Ford Focus, and to fight GM’s biggest competitor in China, VW. FAW-VW are planning to launch the latest Mark 6 VW Golf in China later this year, Buick need a small hatchback to take on the ever growing competition from international car manufacturers such as Nissan, VW, and Ford, all of whom are building handsome hatchback models in China.
