Riich G6 to be 200k and higher

Chery’s sub brand, Riich, is growing slowly with the addition of the Riich M1 and the soon to be added Riich G6 sedan.

Despite the odd brand name it has been stuck under the G6 is an excellent looking car, and with an interior that appears to be able to rival the Koreans, and the Japanese automotive offerings. The G6 is expected to launch later this year with a 2.0T and 3.0T engine offerings.

The 1.0 Riich M1 hatchback has already been launched, an automatic version will launch later this year in October. The Riich G5 is also expected to launch in October. The Rely X1 and X5 SUV‘s are going to launch either at the end of 2009, or early 2010.

The proposed 200,000rmb price range of the Riich G6 would make the G6 one of the most expensive cars that Chery has ever produced, do they have what it takes to compete with the other 200,000rmb price range cars, such as the old favourites like the Mazda6, the VW Passat, and the current Mondeo?

The name is just so tacky! Why don’t they just hire a professional to help them name their retarded car? Ask an American student! A British! just someone! That is why you know chery have a bunch of backward peasants working for their marketing department.

It just kill me that they don’t just take their Chinese name and just translated like the japanese. Do they think having an English make their car better or something? inferior complex? What a dumb company!

Curious why the article mentions competing against the “Mazda6, the VW Passat, and the current Mondeo”, but the mondeo is in a lower price category, and the Buick Regal is not mentioned, which starts at ~200k..

    Shut up tomson.
This car isn’t even exporting to an English-speaking country. The name was meant for the Chinese market. Besides, the name is no worse than Kia, Mitsubishi, or Isuzu.

So what happens when Chery exports Riich to the US and Europe? Don’t you think those customers are going to laugh at Chery? Or is Chery content with staying home and never going to the US and Europe?

Kia, has a meaning, rising up and out of Asia. Mistsubishi is a persons last name, so is Isuzu.
    Riich has no meaning!

I am waiting for the first good looking chinese car

Well actually this car is quite impressive in the metal. However, the question is who is going to be prepared to pay 200+k for a Chinese car with a stupid brand name.

    @ Mark

It’s on sale on China, made by a Chinese company. I don’t why it cannot sell in China its on home turf. This car look decent enough to me. Judging from the report on CCT a month ago about the fiery reaction from the Chinese public when the chinese government put BMW on procurement list and chanting about supporting domestic firms and domestic manufacturing, I think we therefore have every reason to believe that this car will do ok regarding to sale.

  11. avatar Foo says:

It’s a chinese brand. Had you known its chinese name before you talked rot? There still are so empty-headed persons like you nowadays. I can’t believe that.

    @Peter Hoffs

Whilst I agree with a lot of what you say I feel the kind of people with 200k to spend on a car don’t buy Chinese cars. If that were the case, the Roewe 750 would have done a lot better.

If the price is too low then ppl think its cheap crap, low quality…etc…. but now they try to put the price up for a comparatively good looking car, people like martin say don’t spend that money on chinese cars lol, lol if everyone in china have that sort of mentality like martin then chinese firms will just stay static and cannot even move forward and keep making cheap craps. and on the larger scale, the world automotive industry cannot move forward, some ppl out there gotta give new thing a chance, try it out, test it and then pass on the judgement.

  14. avatar mememe says:

but i think martin got a point though in the end, the only chinese brand doing ok in china at the moment is byd, but it is partly the chinese consumers fault in the end of the day they choose not to support their domestic cars and consequently domestic firms make very little profits, little profits cannot help much with r&d and to increase profits they have to cut corner and do copy and paste. vicious cycle.

justlook at s.korea where 97% automobile owned are either hyundai and kia, even a lot of overseas koreans drive a hyundai.
