Apologies

For the past two weeks CCT has been devoid of any large updates, largely due to the fact that I (and others) have been extremely busy elsewhere. I have personally been writing articles for CCT for over two and a half years, sometimes upto ten per day, but probably averaging about 3 per day since CCT’s conception.

I thought it was about time I released some data regarding CCT:

  • 2,120 articles posted on CCT
  • 12,799 comments on CCT articles
  • 64 news categories
  • Often receiving 1 to 2 million page views per month, reaching 3 million during the Shanghai or Beijing Auto Shows.
  • 219,448 spam comments, which were caught by Askimet.
30,450 Spam comments in August 2008 alone.

I often get asked, ‘Why did you start China Car Times’ and the answer is very simple: I was searching for car info as I really wanted to buy a new car in China at the time, but there was nothing in English. So my search lead me into Chinese websites, which had obviously had a plethora of resources, many of which I use now to translate for this website. Since the day I registered the domain name, and set up the site I hardly had any expectations it would eventually turn into a full time job which allowed me to work from home for over a year. Eventually I grew bored of the lack of social life at home being largely by myself, and joined a small bio-technology upstart which has kept me busy, and entertained.

So, please keep reading, I do plan and updating more often now, and will prod the other contributors into putting fingers to keyboards ASAP.

Cool site, keep it up. I’m really interested in China’s automotive industry. There’s a lot of scepticism here (Europe), but I can’t wait to see the first succesfull import.

    Thanks Ash,

I first started reading CCT over two years ago when I was working in China. Been a long time since I last was in China however I still come back to keep up with what’s going on.

    Keep up the good work.

I follow CCT every day, well almost… Its great thanks, & your story about the site’s history is most interesting. My main interest is MG / Roewe related stories & news, and I still look forward to reading news that a new MG model will be made in the UK! I still regret the exchange of my MG ZT for a Mondeo ST.

Keep the news coming! Well done.
